    This is a french butter dish. 
    You pack the top part with soft butter, then add a little water to the base. The water creates a seal and keep your butter fresh and soft on the counter.
     The water should be changed every few days for optimal freshness and if you use unsalted butter a little salt should be added to the water.
    This butter dish is a second because the lid doesn't fit quite right but it is still totally usable.
    This butter dish stands 4 in 1/4 inches tall and is about 4 and 1/2 in wide it will hold approximately half a pound of butter
